Drayton charity shop needs volunteers

The store, on School Road in Drayton, is looking for people to put their spare time and talent to good use.

Volunteers are essential to the success of any charity and will play a vital role in the day to day running of the new charity shop. Volunteering is a fun and practical way to help the charity, whilst providing satisfaction with the knowledge of helping others.

The new retail outlet is keen to recruit a number of volunteers in a wide range of roles, from sorting stock and preparing it for sale; to helping customers and arranging displays. All volunteers will receive training and will work under the guidance of a shop manager.

The shop will be open Monday – Saturday 9.30am – 5pm and each shift will be a minimum of four hours.

Rosemary Fereday, Priscilla Bacon Hospice Head of Retail Operations said: “Volunteers are central to the success of our charity and we’re looking for people to help set up and open our first charity shop in Drayton. It’s an exciting opportunity to join our team and make a real difference to the local charity.

“Volunteering at the Priscilla Bacon Hospice Charity shop is a valuable way of gaining work experience or simply for someone with a few hours a week to spare.

“The wide range of roles available means there’s something to suit everyone, from working on the sales floor to window-dressing, or preparing and pricing stock.

“Volunteering for four hours a week or more is a great way of developing your experience and skills, making new friends and making a real difference to the community.”

For volunteers that do not wish to be front of house there will be a variety of roles available including in the warehouse where donations will be sorted, prepped and priced.

The Drayton store will be sponsored by construction company RG Carter.

Lady Bacon said: “Priscilla Bacon Hospice is a charity close to our hearts and by starting the first of a chain of stores which will greatly benefit the charity and benefit the people of Norfolk.”
