£1,172 raised by London Marathon runner Chris
Meet Chris Grisley, who ran the 2019 Virgin Money London Marathon on Sunday 28th April to raise funds. We asked Chris why he chose to do so and he explained:
“This is my second attempt at running the London Marathon, having completed it first time in 2007. I wanted to raise money for a local charity this time round.
I am well aware of the fantastic work that Priscilla Bacon Lodge does. Both my wife’s Grandmothers spent time there many years ago and more recently, a good friend who passed away just after Christmas at only 39 years old, spent his final days there. In addition, my niece works at the Lodge and a good friend volunteers there as well.
I would just like to thank all the staff and volunteers who work at Priscilla Bacon Lodge for all the hard work they do and if running 26.2 miles can raise awareness and some funding, then I am more than happy to do my bit.”
Chris successfully completed the marathon in an excellent time of 4:11:42 and raised a total of £1,172.00. We caught up with him the following day and he told us he was happy with his time but definitely finding stairs a challenge!
