Barnard Charity Golf Day raises £4,000
The annual Barnard Charity Golf Day held at Bawburgh Golf Club on Monday 19th July 2021 raised a total of £8,000 this year, from which the new hospice appeal was delighted to receive £4,000. The sum from the day was split 50/50 with The MS Society.
Eighteen teams took part, raising money through team entries, sponsorship opportunities, a raffle and a silent auction. This year’s winning team was ‘Fatboy Slim’ – Steven Beck, Steven Beck Jr, Del Sullivan and Phil Blackburn, with a score of 91.
The annual charity day has been running at the golf course for over 30 years and has raised more than £250,000 during this time.
Robert Barnard, Managing Director at Bawburgh Golf Club, said: “It is our biggest charity event of the year and has yet again been very well supported, with a great number of team entries. We would like to thank everyone who was involved on the day, from the volunteers, to the teams that entered and the numerous sponsorship donations. Special thanks must go to Lovewell Blake for their continued support as main sponsor. We are overwhelmed with the amount raised this year for two fantastic and very worthwhile charities.”
Hugo Stevenson, Head of Operations and Fundraising at Priscilla Bacon Hospice, said: “We are absolutely thrilled that the Barnard Charity Golf Day has been such a success, raising £8,000 again this year. Our sincere thanks go to Robert Barnard and his team at Bawburgh Golf Club for their sterling work organising this charity golf day. The money raised gets us ever closer to our £12.5 million fundraising target, which will enable us to build the new Priscilla Bacon Hospice for the people of Norfolk and Waveney.”
