Norfolk Day Cake Sale

On Norfolk Day (26th July) this year staff and volunteers organised a cake sale to raise money for the new hospice appeal. It started at 7.00am and ran until 11.30am.

This may seem like an unusual time to have an event, but the early time marks the point when the night shift handover to the day shift. It was an appropriate time for the staff, who provide specialist end-of-life care 24 hours per day for 365 days of the year, to have time to enjoy themselves.

Norfolk Day was the perfect opportunity to celebrate the team’s vital work which has helped countless families across Norfolk for over 40 years, and also how they are helping to raise the final £2.2 million needed to complete the build.

It was a wonderful event and managed to raise over £1000 for the appeal, which included a very generous donation from a patient.

BBC Radio Norfolk visited and the pictures show Anna Perrott from Radio Norfolk interviewing the volunteers.

Sandra Dinneen, Strategic Project Advisor for the Priscilla Bacon Hospice Charity said, “This complex 18 month building project is on schedule, which will enable the new Priscilla Bacon Lodge to open in summer 2023. Our focus is on raising the final £1 million to achieve a hospice that will offer the very best level of care in a bespoke facility set within a stunning environment. It will put Norfolk back at the forefront of the hospice movement and will provide the people of Norfolk and Waveney with the specialist end-of-life care they deserve”.
