End-of-life care patients, their families, and staff at Priscilla Bacon Lodge can now access free expert financial planning, thanks to a new initiative by Norwich-based Brancaster House.

These 2-weekly consultation sessions provide tailored financial guidance to help alleviate financial stress during life’s most challenging moments. By empowering individuals with personalised advice on pensions, savings, and other financial matters, this service aims to support the hospice community with greater peace of mind and financial security.

The sessions will be running until April 2025. They are free to attend, and a member of the Brancaster House team will be based in The Friends Café. For anything private and confidential, conversations will be moved into a meeting room on the first floor of the hospice.

Shane Julian, Director of Brancaster House Financial Planning, said: “We understand the financial strain families face during life’s most difficult moments. I have a personal connection with the Priscilla Bacon Lodge, as my aunt spent her final days there last year. Through these sessions, we aim to ease that burden and empower individuals with the tools to navigate their financial futures.”

There is no need to book, but if you wish to, please contact Brancaster House directly on 01603 633334, [email protected], or click the link below:

We are thrilled to collaborate with colleagues across Norfolk and Waveney on the Zest programme, which brings together children’s and adult services to create a pathway for smoother transitions into adult care.

Monthly drop-in sessions are taking place at either Priscilla Bacon Lodge, Tapping House, or the Louise Hamilton Centre, designed to give young people and their families a chance to meet those who may be involved in their care as they transition from East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) to adult services. EACH staff will be there to offer support throughout.

During these sessions, you can connect with other families, join in some fun activities, and enjoy a chat over a cuppa. This pilot programme will run for 12-18 months, and we hope to expand transition support services based on the feedback we receive.

The sessions also give young people and their families an opportunity to help shape future services. There will be multiple ways for you to share your thoughts on how we can best support your journey.

Please note, these are self-care sessions, meaning that each family is responsible for their young person.

We look forward to welcoming you and working together on this transition journey!

“We had a fantastic time completing the 5K inflatable run, and even better, it supported the Priscilla Bacon Hospice Charity! The numerous obstacle courses made it feel like we weren’t running 5 kilometres. After our team regrouped at the finish line, we agreed that we would have to do this again next year!”

Shane Julian, 2024 participant

“We all had a blast, thank you to all who organised the event!”
