We are thrilled to have been selected as one of the charities to host an Open Garden event at the Bishop’s House this year. We are excited to bring you live music, craft stalls, a tombola, games, refreshments and homemade cakes – all in aid of the appeal to build the new Priscilla Bacon Lodge!

The garden will be open between 1:00pm and 4:30pm, with last entry at 4:00pm.

Entry costs £5.00 per adult. Accompanied children under 16 and wheelchair users are free of charge. Assistance dogs only please.

There will be plants from the garden for sale, with proceeds going towards the running of the garden.

Please note: There will be no parking available at the house. There is a small car park just outside the main gate and a large pay-and-display adjacent to the Adam and Eve pub.

We still have a couple of spaces for stalls at the event and are asking a £20 donation to our appeal for this. Stallholders must have their own Public Liability Insurance. There is also some space for choirs/musical performances. If you are interested in either of these, please contact us at fundraising@priscillabaconhospice.org.uk as soon as possible.

Priscilla Bacon Hospice are delighted to have been chosen to benefit from funds raised at this open garden event. We will be there selling teas, coffees and a selection of homemade cakes.

Entry to the garden costs £4.00 for adults and children are free – these funds go to the National Garden Scheme’s chosen charities.

This is a relaxed garden in an historic part of the city. There is a small lawned area, shrubs and perennial borders with a wide variety of plants, terraces and steep slopes leading to an elevated summerhouse with wonderful views of the cathedrals and city.

The garden is approached via a steep gravelled drive and there are steep steps in the garden, which means it is only suitable for the able bodied.

Dogs are welcome. Plants for sale. Cashless payment available.

Norfolk Gazelles’ “Don’t Pass It On” Virtual Relay is back for a second year!

Start making your daft batons now, ready for Sunday 18 July 2021. The relay will kick off at 6am – as last year, it will be divided into 17 one-hour time slots with the last runners starting at 10pm. This relay is not about how fast you are, it’s about taking part! The relay is all about the distance covered by your club during the course of the 17 hours, not just about how fast your quickest runners can go. It doesn’t matter whether you run or walk or whether you’re a sprinter or a jogger – every metre counts! You don’t have to be a member of an “official” running club to enter a team – workplaces, mates, family groups etc are all welcome.

Last year, £10,000 was raised for charity and Priscilla Bacon Hospice is delighted to have been chosen as one of the charities to benefit from this year’s event, along with Norfolk & Waveney Mind. Click here to visit the donation page.

If you would like to include your club or organisation and be a team captain, please complete the online entry form by clicking ‘enter relay’ below. Entry is free and entrants have the opportunity to purchase an exclusive coaster, (pictured below), with the proceeds going to charity.

The rules:

• There is no single winner – it’s a winning team. That way, everybody’s efforts are recognised.
• Each runner runs/walks for one hour or multiples of one hour (these can be consecutive or spread over the day and are subject to local guidelines)
• First runners/walkers start at 6am; last runners/walkers start at 10pm (event finishes at 11pm)
• Runners can only run, jog, walk… no bikes!
• A maximum of nine runners/walkers can run during each hour (a minimum of one runner/walker for each hour)
• Each runner can run anywhere and on any safe route
• There’s no traditional baton handover – don’t pass it on! — but each runner MUST carry a baton for the full hour
• The baton is of each runner’s choosing, the more random and eccentric the better… A flower pot? A cucumber? A guitar?
• If you want to enter the competition for the best baton, upload a picture to the Norfolk Gazelle’s Facebook event page here
• Each runner starts their run at their allotted time
• Club runners should wear club kit if they have it
• Social distancing rules must be followed
• Time slots run after sundown must wear hi-vis and lights
• All participants run at their own risk

Christmas can be a particularly difficult time of the year for those who have lost loved ones. Although we could not hold a large service encouraging solidarity and solace, as we did last year in Norwich Cathedral, our thanks go to the Dean and Chapter of Norwich Cathedral for allowing us to record Reflect and Remember – a service of Carols and Readings.

The service will premiere on YouTube at 7:30pm on Sunday 20th December and the video will remain up indefinitely after that. Please click ‘watch the service’ below to be taken to the video.  An order of service can be downloaded by clicking here and we very much hope you will join us.

If you would like to make a donation to our new hospice appeal, please click here. Thank you for all of your support this year!

All are welcome to a service to remember those known to us who have received hospice care and to commend the remarkable work of the Priscilla Bacon ‘Family’. This includes the staff and volunteers of Priscilla Bacon Lodge, the Priscilla Bacon Lodge Support Group, and the volunteers, supporters, donors and fundraisers for the Priscilla Bacon Norfolk Hospice Care Charity.

We are delighted that Dr Caroline Barry, Palliative Care Consultant at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, will deliver the address. She will reflect on her experiences leading a hospital palliative care team during the pandemic, and how our new facility will improve hospice care for patients across Norfolk.

There will be contributions from staff members, volunteers and Trustees from the Priscilla Bacon ‘Family’ and from Norfolk Community Health and Care NHS Trust. The Chamber Choir of Norwich Lower School will lead the music.

As we reflect, remember and look to the future, please do join us to pay tribute to Priscilla Bacon Lodge and to support our work to improve the availability of hospice care for the people of Norfolk and Waveney.

Complimentary refreshments will be available after the service.

This event is free of charge and no ticket is required. It would be extremely helpful for catering purposes and to ensure the event takes place in accordance with any Covid-19 legislation if you could drop an e-mail to events@priscillabaconhospice.org.uk to let us know you will be attending.

After a really successful VW FAB Fest in 2019, where over £3,000 was raised for the new hospice, we are delighted to have become their permanent chosen charity!

The festival is organised by Terriann and Mark Vincent, and the FAB Family Crew. They are a family-based weekend VW festival and describe themselves as “back to basics, one big old school family festival”. They do say if partying until the early hours is your thing, it may not be your cup of tea!

Sadly the event could not take place in 2020, or 2021 due to the pandemic, so 2022 will see the very popular “Retro Pushbike Show” and “Shine & Show” return, along with a “Scrufts” Dub dog show. A “Dub Tucker Trial” will see contestants take on the FAB v Food trial.

There will be a raffle in aid of our appeal and we will be there on the Saturday and Sunday with a tombola and some other fun and games!

Camping pitches are now SOLD OUT. Advance day tickets can be purchased at a discount here, or you can pay on the gate.

For more info on the event, please see the VW Fab Fest Facebook page.

Finishers receive a medal, pair of socks, multifunctional headscarf and snack bar.
