The Priscilla Bacon Hospice Charity is looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Community Fundraising and Marketing Manager to join our high performing Executive team.

The Community Fundraising and Marketing Manager will play a vital role within the Fundraising Team. This role will manage and proactively develop relationships with supporters – including community groups, corporate organisations and individuals. The individual will organise and lead fundraising events and deliver outstanding stewardship focusing on the highest value and highest potential opportunities, to ensure sustainable long-term income.

It is an exciting time to join the Fundraising Team and to play a key role by helping to raise the final £2.2 million necessary to complete the project.

This is a full-time role (40 hours per week), with a salary of £30,000. You will be required to work with the office-based team located at Drayton, Norwich with hours based around the operational needs of the Charity.

Holiday allowance: 20 days annual leave together with Public Holidays.

About the Priscilla Bacon Hospice Charity

The Priscilla Bacon Hospice Charity was created to raise £12.5 million to fund the construction of a new specialist hospice. The new Priscilla Bacon Lodge will be built on an 8-acre site adjacent to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital and will replace the existing Priscilla Bacon Lodge on Unthank Road.

Building work commenced on the new Priscilla Bacon Lodge in February 2022 and the first patients will be welcomed in the summer of 2023.

Purpose of Job

The Community Fundraising and Marketing Manager will play a vital role within the Fundraising Team. This role will manage and proactively develop relationships with supporters – including community groups, corporate organisations and individuals. The individual will organise and lead fundraising events and deliver outstanding stewardship focusing on the highest value and highest potential opportunities, to ensure sustainable long-term income.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

Planning & New Business

Working closely with the Head of Operations and Fundraising to:

  • Lead the establishment and delivery of the Community and Events strategy.
  • Support the development of the annual budget
  • Lead the development of fundraising and volunteer materials for appeals and supporter communications. This would include writing, collating and editing copy, proof reading; and liaising with external suppliers involved in the production of supporter communications
  • Lead website management for the charity, creating digital content, updating webpages
  • Lead on the creation and sending of the monthly e-newsletter to supporters
  • Lead on charity social media channels and achieve demonstrable growth by increasing audience engagement through innovative use of social media
  • Identify and develop new fundraising opportunities across the region, such as applying for corporate partnerships/Charity of the Year
  • Develop new relationships with local groups and organisations to increase volunteer support and fundraising opportunities

 Stewardship

  • Manage and develop relationships with supporters, delivering excellent levels of supporter stewardship, to ensure the maximum potential is achieved through all engagements
  • Work with supporters and listen to feedback to help maximise fundraising and find future opportunities

 

Stakeholders

  • Be a key team member of the Fundraising team
  • Lead the promotion of products, challenge events and campaigns to supporters across the region
  • Recruit, manage and motivate volunteers to undertake fundraising and awareness activities
  • Represent the charity externally at supporter events, often involving networking and delivering presentations

Reporting

  • Produce regular reports on marketing, fundraising events and stewardship performance; monitor financial and non-financial KPIs

 

Compliance

  • Maintain accurate supporter database records in compliance with the charity’s policies and processes
  • Ensure that the Office Administrator is recording all income correctly on supporter database and adhering to thanking and donor recognition policies
  • Ensure confidentiality and best practice is adhered to throughout all work in line with Charity policies and procedures
  • Adherence to the Fundraising Regulator Code of Conduct
  • Awareness of data protection legislation
  • Maintain effective relationships with agencies and suppliers

Qualifications Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working in community fundraising or experience of working in relationship management or new business in a similar setting
  • A clear understanding of community fundraising across both relationship management and new business development
  • Experience of building positive relationships and networking
  • Experience of delivering successful presentations
  • Experience of planning and delivering projects and successfully fundraising towards financial targets
  • Experience of using a database to support, inform and report on fundraising and supporter activity (ideally Harlequin)
  • Understanding of and adherence to the Fundraising Code of Practice and fundraising regulations
  • Willing to work variable hours where needed, with occasional evening and weekend events (including travel)
  • Full clean driving licence and access to own car and willingness to travel

Desirable

  • Experience of managing volunteers
  • Ability to create and manage fundraising content on our website (WordPress) and social media channels.
  • An understanding of and interest in end-of-life care and the hospice movement.
  • Undertaken relevant training in fundraising
