£5,214 raised at Plant Lovers’ Day to help establish Hospice Choir
We’re delighted to share that this year’s ever-popular Plant Lovers’ Day at Creake Abbey raised an incredible £5,214!
As the event’s chosen charity for a second year, we were honoured to receive entry fees and donations from hundreds of garden enthusiasts who attended.
At our stand, we sold a vibrant selection of edible plug plants grown at Priscilla Bacon Lodge by our Head Gardener, Jack Mackenzie; including Purple Kale, French Beans, Sweetcorn, and a variety of Tomatoes, Squash and Courgettes – all of which proved hugely popular with visitors.
This generous support will help fund the creation of a community choir at Priscilla Bacon Lodge; an initiative that will bring patients, families, staff, and volunteers together through the power of music.
The choir will offer a space for connection, creative expression, and wellbeing, with opportunities to perform both within the hospice and at special events throughout the year; including our Memorial Walk, Summer Fair, Christmas Fair, and the Reflect and Remember Carol Service at Norwich Cathedral.
Research has shown that singing can ease stress, reduce anxiety, and help combat feelings of isolation. For patients, it can be a joyful and affirming experience that provides both purpose and comfort during their end-of-life journey. The choir will foster a sense of community, compassion, and shared humanity for everyone involved.
Thank you to everyone who supported us at Plant Lovers’ Day!
