A Sunny Day of Reflection at our Memorial Walk
On Sunday 22nd June, 56 supporters took part in our second annual Memorial Walk, raising over £7,000 so far!
With high temperatures forecast, we made a few adjustments to help keep everyone safe and comfortable.
We chose to lead a 5K route only, and set off two hours earlier in the morning than originally planned. While this meant we had to cancel the post-walk BBQ lunch, walkers were welcomed back to The Friends Café with cold drinks and ice creams.
Many participants walked in memory of a loved one who had received care at Priscilla Bacon Lodge, wearing handwritten messages of remembrance on their shirts. There was a lovely atmosphere of reflection and togetherness.
Walkers also wrote personal messages on pink heart cards, which were displayed on the rose arbour in the Lodge gardens, and will later be buried in the grounds.
After the walk, Tracey Dryhurst, Specialist Palliative Care Pathway Lead for NCH&C, kindly gave a short speech and shared a moving poem.
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us on the day; you helped to make this a special, uplifting occasion for all involved. Please enjoy some photos below.
