Celebrating Two Years of Garden Volunteers at Priscilla Bacon Lodge

On Tuesday 19th August, a small celebration was held at Priscilla Bacon Lodge to mark a very special milestone – the two-year anniversary of our Garden Volunteer team!

Volunteers Adele, Alan, Angela, Carolyn, Tina, and Valerie joined Head Gardener, Jack Mackenzie, and Volunteer Coordinator, Catherine Wilson, to reflect on the journey that began two years ago, when the first volunteers started work in our newly established gardens.

Since then, their dedication and care have helped to shape the gardens into a tranquil and uplifting space. A place of comfort and connection for patients, loved ones, staff, and fellow volunteers.

Jack said: “I’m incredibly grateful for the wonderful work that our Garden Volunteers do each and every week. Over the past two years, they’ve created a warm, welcoming, and very supportive group, who have become a vital element to the gardens at Priscilla Bacon Lodge. Whether they are weeding, pruning, deadheading, mowing paths, sowing seeds, taking cuttings, helping with plants sales, or much, much more – I couldn’t do it without them.”

Our Garden Volunteers’ work is a living testament to the power of community and compassion. We are deeply grateful for the time, energy, and love they continue to give to our gardens, and we thank them for helping to make Priscilla Bacon Lodge a truly special place.
