Horticultural event to help establish Hospice Choir

We are delighted to once again be the chosen charity to receive entry fees and donations at this much-loved horticultural event.

This year, funds raised will help establish a community choir at Priscilla Bacon Lodge – a powerful and uplifting opportunity for patients, staff, families, and local volunteers to connect through music. The choir will promote wellbeing, creative expression, and community spirit.

Singing has been shown to reduce stress, anxiety, and feelings of isolation. For patients, it provides a joyful, creative outlet and a sense of normalcy and purpose during their end-of-life journey. A hospice choir builds bonds between people of all roles and experiences, encouraging empathy, support, and shared humanity.

It is hoped that the choir will perform within the hospice for the benefit of patients, as well as at events such as our annual Memorial Walk, Summer Fair and Christmas Fair, and the Reflect and Remember Carol Service at Norwich Cathedral.

Our Head of Fundraising and Communications, Hugo Stevenson, said: “We are thrilled to once again be selected as the designated charity for the perennially popular Plant Lovers’ Day at Creake Abbey. A hospice choir is more than a musical group – it’s a source of healing, joy, and human connection. Establishing one at Priscilla Bacon Lodge will enrich the lives of patients and their families, raise awareness and support for the hospice and the Charity, and celebrate the resilience and spirit of those receiving care.”

Plant Lovers’ Day is now in its 18th year, and takes place at the stunning monastic site of Creake Abbey, just south of Burnham Market in North Norfolk.

The event brings together specialist nurseries from across Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, and Essex, with top growers from further afield also showcasing their finest plants. You’ll find excellent-value herbaceous perennials, annuals, bulbs, shrubs, climbers, and popular favourites like roses – all available to buy direct from the growers, or pre-order for collection on the day.

A delicious range of refreshments will be available from handpicked Norfolk street food vendors, alongside The Barn Café.

Entry is £5.00 per adult, with all proceeds coming to the Priscilla Bacon Hospice Charity. Children under 16 go free. Dogs on leads are welcome, but must not be left in cars.

A plant crèche will run all day in the Main Barn, so you can shop and drop with ease.

Make sure to visit our stand, where we’ll be selling edible plug plants grown by our Head Gardener, Jack Mackenzie, at Priscilla Bacon Lodge. These include Purple Kale, Pak Choi, Climbing French Beans, Sweetcorn, Lettuce and multiple varieties of Tomatoes, Squash and Courgette.
