“This is my dream and I’ll decide where it goes from here.”

2016, a tiny house and a patch of soil measuring 4 metres x 60 metres, a blank canvas just what I needed for focus, structure and a creative outlet. My work was cut out trying to make this space into a quirky and personal garden.

Little by little I created separate ‘rooms’, some tiny and others very much life size using materials that I already had plus donations from friends of bricks, blocks, flints and stones. I became rather good at saving other people’s cast off plants and growing from seed. Upcycling and recycling was the plan of action and in the early days also growing my own food here and having hens to aid my self sufficiency.

The fences were erected over time which made working on the left of the garden, with my only boundary being a solitary wire fence, very difficult. In 2018, when finances allowed, the new fence went up which made everything make more sense.

My dream of an outdoor kitchen was there from the start and was firmly marked out with canes and string as a no go no plant area. Finally in may 2018 my dream became reality and it has turned out to be a wonderful place for family and friends to join together. This year of course it has felt a little lonely so I would like to share it with you.

My garden is and will continue to be my ongoing adventure. Please enjoy!
