Building the future of hospice care in Norfolk and Waveney

We have already raised over £6.7m of our fundraising target and now need to hit the £8m mark, to allow us to start building in the Summer of 2021.

The Covid-19 pandemic has caused a dramatic reduction in appointments and treatments for cancers and other life-limiting illnesses, the consequences of which will be felt for years to come. With only 16 specialist care beds for a population of over 1 million, the need for the new hospice is now even more desperate.

By donating less than the price of a pint now, you make it possible for us to break ground next Summer.

The new hospice

Priscilla Bacon Hospice will replace the current Priscilla Bacon Lodge, established some 40 years ago through a public fundraising campaign.
Despite its achievements, Priscilla Bacon Lodge is now inadequate both in scale and configuration, as the population of Norfolk has risen by 220,000 since it was built.

Against a requirement for 47-59 specialist palliative care beds, we have just 16 – all in Priscilla Bacon Lodge.
Ever-increasing demand – for inpatient beds as well as day and respite care – from a growing and ageing population means that greater capacity is desperately needed.
The new Priscilla Bacon Hospice will be built on a semi-rural site close to the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital.
It will boast the most modern and very best facilities, and a greater range of community day care and out-patient services, giving those who require care a wider choice.
It will focus on enabling a ‘good death’, caring for patients and supporting loved ones through and beyond bereavement.

Since the launch of our appeal in 2019, a tremendous response from the people of Norfolk and Waveney means over £6.7 million has been raised. Your donation will help us get ever closer to our goal of £12.5 million.
