£655 raised with River Waveney Swim

Carl Mace, along with his friends Luke and Ken, took a brave dip in the River Waveney on Sunday 23rd June, as part of a relay swim to raise funds for the new hospice. They raised an excellent total of £655.00, but Carl isn’t stopping there! He and his wife Claire have more fundraising planned and are aiming to raise £1,000 in our Million Pound Challenge. This means they can have a name displayed on a plaque in the new hospice once built.

Fundraising River Swim - Priscilla Bacon Hospice

Carl’s brother-in-law Michael died in Priscilla Bacon Lodge 14 years ago. Carl’s mother-in-law, Diane Schultz, was kind enough to share the story of Michael’s end-of-life care with us in a video, which you can watch here.

Carl said, “Sadly, more recently, another amazing family member also lost his battle with cancer and the team at Priscilla Bacon Lodge supported him from diagnosis and continue to be there for my family. They are a crucial part of what is needed in end-of-life care, not just for the patient, but for the family too. We would be lost without them.”
