Anonymous £500,000 donation takes appeal ever closer to halfway
The appeal to build the new Priscilla Bacon Hospice has been boosted by a private donation of £500,000, the hospice Fundraising Team has announced. The donor, who lives in the Waveney area, but has asked to remain anonymous, was inspired by the vision to transform the buildings and facilities that deliver specialist palliative and end-of-life care for the people of Norfolk and North Suffolk.
Mark Nicholas, CEO of the fundraising campaign, said, “This is a very generous private donation, which will make a huge difference to the appeal. It also demonstrates that people across Norfolk and Waveney are backing this important campaign to revolutionise the provision of hospice care in the region. We are thrilled with this donation and we hope it will inspire others to support the appeal.”
Mr Nicholas explained that the appeal is close to halfway towards the fundraising target of £12.5 million. “2020 is the critical year to progress the fundraising and the hope remains to break ground for the new hospice during 2021, with a view to completing building by the end of 2022. Although this is ambitious, the energy behind the project and the fundraising campaign encourages us all to believe it can be achieved.”
