Brave “soles” raise over £4,500 at our Fundraising Firewalk
On Friday 20th September, 20 participants took part in a thrilling firewalk outside The Forum, facing scorching coals to raise funds for the Priscilla Bacon Hospice Charity.
The event, led by Mark Daniels and the Charity Firewalk team, combined an inspiring empowerment talk with the daring feat.
Thanks to the courage of the participants and the community’s support, over £4,500 has been raised so far. These funds will enhance the comfort and care of patients and their loved ones at Priscilla Bacon Lodge.
Lauren Yaxley, from marketing company Welly*, who are members of our 500 Business Club, said: “I’ll admit I wasn’t sure the empowerment talk wasn’t going to be my ‘thing’, but it was really interesting. It explored the concept of mind over matter, and meant that not only did we walk over 1300-degree coals, but a blanket of broken glass too! What a way to spend the evening, and all for a great cause. I exceeded my fundraising target, faced some fears I didn’t know I had, and can honestly say you never forget your first firewalk!”
Fundraiser Claire Keeble said: “Well, what can I say about the evening? Thank you to the staff and all the wonderful volunteers for a most memorable time. It really was a positive experience and I’m hoping lots of money will be coming your way!”
Special thanks to 500 Club member Paul Macro for supporting the event and capturing the highlights in stunning photography.
