Norwich No. 1 Round Table to the rescue!
A volunteer workforce from Norwich No. 1 Round Table helped us with the transportation of thousands of donations.
During the first lockdown, we organised a “Spring Clean” collection scheme, to encourage donations of stock for our seven charity shops. The scheme was so popular, that we required additional storage space after our warehouse was filled. Two 20-foot shipping containers were generously provided, without charge, by Cann Secure in Stratton Strawless, to hold the stock until it was needed for sale.
Norwich No. 1 Round Table, who have elected to support us with fundraising activities, had been rather thwarted in their plans due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but when the opportunity to help arose, they leapt at the chance.
Will Casson, Chairman of the Norwich No. 1 Round Table explained:
“When we heard that the charity needed assistance with the transportation of the stock from the storage site to the warehouse, I knew that the Club would be happy to help. 15 members, friends and Anglia Catering Equipment joined together as a volunteer workforce with cars, vans and trailers. In less than 2 hours, we got the job done, which saved the charity time and money and enabled them to supply fresh stock to their shops in time for Christmas.”
Hugo Stevenson, our Head of Fundraising and Communications said:
“We were delighted that the members of the Norwich No. 1 Round Table helped with the transportation of stock for the charity. We have a very small team, which ensures that we can deliver 93p in every £1.00 raised into our fundraising appeal to build the new specialist hospice for Norfolk and Waveney. We are incredibly grateful for the support of individual volunteers, groups, clubs and businesses who assist us in so many different ways. They donate thousands of hours each year to support our appeal. We are always keen to speak to anyone who would like to help us, as every pound raised or saved gets us closer to building the new Priscilla Bacon Hospice.”
We are still running our ‘£3 to Break Ground’ fundraising campaign, which aims to take our appeal to the next milestone of £8 million. If you’d like to donate, you can do so here.
