Reflect and Remember service adds £30,000 to our appeal

Around 550 people joined us in Norwich Cathedral on Monday 2nd December, for a service to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Priscilla Bacon Lodge and to remember loved ones who received hospice care. In the event programme, we were delighted to be able to announce that our appeal has reached the £5 million point.

Some beautiful readings were delivered by people connected to our charity, the Norwich Lower School Chamber Choir gave two excellent performances and Baroness Finlay of Llandaff gave a very poignant address. It was wonderful to meet so many of our supporters afterwards, over a glass of mulled wine and a mince pie or two.

The collection taken during the service raised an amazing £3,253.28 and we also received two significant donations on the evening. With the addition of Gift Aid, an incredible £30,000 was raised all together.

The Priscilla Bacon Hospice appeal was officially launched in February this year, with £3 million raised. We have been overwhelmed with the level of support our campaign has received since then, resulting in a further £2 million being raised in just ten months.

Robert Carter, Chair of Trustees, said: “Forty years ago, the people of Norfolk came together to raise the funds to build Priscilla Bacon Lodge. Now it is our turn to do the same for Priscilla Bacon Hospice. A tremendous response from the people of Norfolk and Waveney has resulted in £5 million in cash and pledges, but there is a long way to go.”

Thank you to everyone who joined us on this special evening, we are excited to confirm this service will become an annual event.
